To use the numeric keypad on a laptop, enable the NumLock key on the keyboard. NumLock key is used to convert part of the main keyboard to act as a numeric keypad rather than letters. When
enabled, NumLock lets you use the 7-8-9, u-i-o, j-k-l and m keys as a numeric keypad.

  1. Alternatively, you can use the Windows Registry Editor to change the NumLock behavior. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box, type "regedit," and hit Enter. In the Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Keyboard. Look for the "InitialKeyboardIndicators" value, and double-click on it. Modify the value data to 0 to disable NumLock after logging in or set it to 2 to enable NumLock after logging in. Click OK to save the changes.
